I Never Set Out to “Just Teach Classes”

When I first discovered Pilates, I wasn’t thinking about certifications. I was thinking about my flexibility and lack of core strength and awareness and how, at the time I was first doing Pilates, I felt “not good enough” because I wasn’t a dancer or mover. I was a journalist who lived most of my 20’s living in third world countries. I was even told once by a studio owner that I probably wouldn’t make it as a teacher because I wasn’t a dancer and didn’t have the “form” that is required.

Decades later, I had my Pretty Woman moment

I was thinking about how strong and connected I felt in my body.

How my posture improved.

How my pain disappeared.

How I finally understood movement.

That curiosity turned into commitment.

And that commitment turned into a career.

My First Teacher Training Was Transformational

My certification wasn’t easy.
