A week before we meet in person you’ll dive into the world of classical Mat by logging into your CPNYC Mat Training Course learning platform online. Our precourse is an online self-paced study moderated by a CPNYC faculty member. You’ll have a week to cozy up with and be saturated with instructional videos, manuals, interactive discussions and quizzes. Self-paced to show up on day one super prepared.
Get ready. Walk in. Stand up and teach. It happens that quickly. We throw you in to knock the nerves out the park so you are clear and present. The group begins to understand the fundamentals and principles of the Method and of teaching the Method. Differentiating technique versus cueing when teaching, and then understanding the classical Beginner level Mat Sequence and its role for what’s to come.
What a difference a week makes. We come together again to introduce and practice the Intermediate level Mat Sequence. Emphasis on class structure and the “whys” of the order are discussed. It all starts coming together during the second weekend!
Between the two weekends we encourage you to apprentice! Take Mat classes in studio or online or opt to login and observe our online Mat classes while they are happening live. Get fully exposed to how our faculty cues, flows, creates and masters a full classical Mat class. And study, study, study. Pop in for live office hours, and join an exclusive mentor call with faculty.
A self-study module on your student platform is dedicated to foundational anatomy as it relates to the Pilates movement you will be teaching. You’ll learn the key muscles and joints at work in the Mat repertoire understand common injuries and how to modify.
On the last day of our live course, the group will participate in assessment drills where faculty observe that you’ve got a solid grasp on technique, cueing, orders, flow and timing. If you demonstrate satisfactory skills, you’ll receive the CPNYC Certificate of Completion within a week and you can begin teaching! A more in-depth 1:1 test out evaluation and dedicated feedback from your faculty mentors can be scheduled for a fee within a month after the course ends.
Show off your new found skills by teaching what you’ve learned to your faculty mentor in a devoted test out. Your mentor will observe your teachings and spend 30 minutes with you offering feedback of your strengths and what you may continue growing toward as a new teacher. An invaluable session for anyone who wants to teach! Fee additional from course tuition.
