Core Pilates NYC’s Certification. Some FAQ’s.
You’ve got Q’s. We’ve got A’s. Here is a rundown of the most commonly asked questions about Core’s renowned teacher training and certification courses in New York City.
Here is a brief list of frequently asked questions about our teacher training program. If you have a question that is not listed here or on this website please contact us.
If I’m going to finish the teacher training program in 6 months generally how much time should I spend in the studio each week?
The Core Comprehensive Immersion is quite a thorough and demanding education experience. In order to successfully complete our comprehensive teacher training program and graduate on time, it’s strongly suggested to spend about 15 – 20 hours per week in the studio for your apprenticeship.
What’s the first step if I’m considering enrolling in any of CPNYC’s Pilates teacher training programs?
We don’t just say the first step — but offer THREE. First is our weekly open house studio tour. There is no better way to get a feel for the vibe of our New York City studio than to stop by and see it in action! It’s an hour well spent seeing it, watching current apprentices (your future self!) in action, and talking with our director and/or other faculty and teachers about your unique goals and prospects of the program. Second is a weekly uber conference call. This is most handy for anybody who doesn’t live locally or can’t make our Open House. And lastly – our door is ALWAYS open. Shoot our director an email and coordinate a one-on-one with her.
I might not be able to make all intensive weekends in the Comprehensive Immersion Teacher Training. What happens then?
The intensive weekends are mandatory and it’s very easily to fall behind if you miss a weekend. That being said, we understand life and it happens. We encourage all prospective apprentices to commit fully to the schedule. If a weekend or part of a weekend has to be missed we approve it on an individual basis and have built in a way of making it up with private sessions at $150 per hour.
Is it a Pilates certification?
The word certification is used quite commonly to describe our programs and other Pilates teacher training programs. But it is a bit misleading. While you do get a qualifying training in our education programs and others in the city and nationwide it’s only a certification if you sit for the independent third party exam administered by the Pilates Method Alliance. You will receive an official certificate of training that will carry your career just fine whether or not you choose to sit for the PMA exam.
Do you offer financial assistance for your Pilates Teacher Training Program?
Yes! We offer 2 very appealing solutions for anybody who might not be able to afford the cost of tuition. These options only apply toward our Comprehensive Teacher Training Immersion. The first is the workstudy option. Pay half the tuition and work off the other half working in the studio or at the front desk creating amazing customer experience. We offer a scholarship to a person in need of full tuition scholarship. This person must demonstrate financial need, prove why they should be the recipient and have a story to tell! We require our scholarship recipients to write 4 blog posts per month chronicling their teacher training experience at the Core studio.
Core’s reputation is good. Real good. I finished another program or am in the process at another program and want to switch. Can I?
Yes. We offer what is called a Bridge option within the Pilates industry. It is exactly that. It bridges your current or previous Pilates teacher training education/certification with ours. It requires attendance at all intensive weekends and modified apprentice hours as well as test outs. Cost is reduced. Please contact our director of interested in this option.
