Our
Instructor Education Program is classically based
but still progressive - designed to be straightforward
and efficient with a standard of acceptance set from
day one. We recognize that each trainee brings his/her
uniqueness and individual teaching style to the mix
and it is the goal of our program to embrace and
build upon each individual’s unique teaching
style. Throughout our courses students will understand
the founding principles behind the Classical Method,
and their influence toward sound mind and body and
the all important connection between the two.
What is Classical Pilates?
“I
must be right. Never an aspirin. Never injured
a day in my life. The whole country, the whole
world, should be doing my exercises. They'd be
happier.”
— Joseph
Hubertus Pilates, in 1965, age 86
The "classical" or "authentic" method
has deviated the least from Joseph Pilates' original
work. It's the real deal, not a hybrid of fitness
or yoga mixed with Pilates. Typically this style
of Pilates has come to be known as
"East Coast Pilates" due to the fact that Joseph
Pilates' original studio was in New York City.
The Classical approach attempts to preserve the
art, spirit and vocabulary of the Method while
honoring the "Golden Chain" —
seamless, focused and efficient movement from
one exercise to the next.
“Core
Pilates NYC feels like home. The teacher training
staff took the pretension and intimidation out of
Pilates that I found with other programs. The atmosphere
was warm and welcoming and I felt comfortable learning,
exploring, and finding my voice as a Pilates apprentice. ”
— Ashley
DeLeon, April 2005
The Comprehensive Training Course™ Graduate
Training Courses
Our Instructor Education Program is designed to follow
three paths:
Our Graduate Network is
a wonderful resource to tap into when considering
our teacher training program. We want you to get
the information you need and believe that the best
source for that is a recent graduate. We believe
in our program, as do our graduates, so we welcome
any potential trainee to contact a member of our
network.
The work study position came from a high demand of
potential students who lacked the resources and funding
for our courses or Pilates sessions and classes but
didn’t lack commitment, passion, and strong
ambition toward the Method and themselves. We accept
one work study applicant for every course. Download
an application and
either fax or email it back to us.
