Top 3 things you love about being a Pilates professional?
The joy of seeing people master an exercise, grow strong and stand tall, knowing that what I am teaching can change lives, and the fun that we have during class – my clients come for a laugh and chat as well as a Pilates session that is just right for the level they are at.
What are you setting your sights on in the upcoming future with regards to your Pilates career?
I would like to open a larger studio and also train in using other pilates equipment such as the ladder barrel.
Top 2 exercises to teach and why?
Spine Stretch Forward – so important for posture, and can be taught to people of all abilities, from those in wheelchairs and the elderly, to young athletes to help them identify different muscle groups and how they work together to create a strong core.
Teaser – from its most modified state it can be built on slowly, and the feel-good factor of achieving your first full teaser is so powerful.
What were your biggest challenges as an apprentice and how did you overcome it?
Knowing about injuries/medical conditions – slowly being overcome with lots of study, which will be ongoing over my lifetime!
Core Pilates NYC and your experience in the courses?
Such comprehensive training in a small amount of time! Using the strategy of teaching each other during training built confidence and the direct feedback from the our CPNYC teacher trainer honed skills to perfection. Being able to teach straight away after the course was empowering and the best way to cement the skills learnt.
