Before discovering Pilates, I thought I was fated to have perpetually tight neck and shoulder muscles. By strengthening the muscles of my back and opening my chest through the work of Pilates, I feel like I have a completely new, stronger, more upright body. This is what I strive to instill in my clients in each and every class I teach; to open my clients’ eyes to the progress that can be made through Pilates, by mindfully engaging the right muscles in class so that those muscles are more trained to fire when not in class. I like to tell my clients: “you’re stronger than you think you are,” because they are. Whether you are a beginner or have been practicing Pilates for decades, there is always more strength you can find and explore within yourself and the Pilates method.
