What kind of bagel do you like and how do you prefer to “dress” it?

Multi-grain bagel, low fat cream cheese with lettuce, tomato and cucumber

What’s your favorite exercise to teach and do you have a special spin to it?

I love teaching Saw during the Mat Class. I tend to get carried away and start singing my favorite Viennese Waltz to encourage a little rhythm and flow. So if you take Dan’s class, be prepared to sing along!

If Joseph Pilates were alive today, what would you ask him?

What’s your favorite beer? And Did you ever imagine that your name would appear in a Madonna song?

Top 3 places you’ve traveled?

Bali, Indonesia. The Great Barrier Reef/Daintree Rainforest, Australia. Marrakech, Morocco.

Top 3 things on your “To Do Before You Die” list?

Travel by Hot Air Balloon over Angel Falls, go on a posh African Safari with lots of amenities, and eat dinner at every Michelin 3-Star restaurant in the world!

What’s the farthest point from the Core studio (or NYC) that you’ve done Pilates?

While snowbound on a mountain in St. Moritz, Switzerland

What’s your Pilates “a-ha” moment?

Two big a-ha moments: one is that it is indeed possible to break a serious sweat (like an animated cartoon character sweat) by the time you’re half way through The Hundred and that Rolling Like a Ball is NOT kid’s play!

Two words that describe your teaching style?

Theatrical and Spontaneous

Favorite type of sessions or classes to teach and why?

Classic Mat Workout- Basic approach- NO PROPS! Because I think it’s the hardest workout of all! You really can’t cheat or coast through!

Care to share any teaching blunders?

Blunder eh, I wish I could think of even one…humm…

Where can we find you usually on any given Friday eve?

Chillin’ with my sweetie!

What has Pilates done in your own body? And why do you love it?

Pilates has truly helped me define and deepen my understanding of where my center really is. After dancing professionally for 15 years, Pilates offered me an even deeper connection to my core and has become a cornerstone for my spinal health. And what’s great about the practice, is that one light bulb moment leads way to the next, and so on and so on!

Pilates Class Gone “Mad” – Core Mad Libs!

The first time I taught a group Pilates mat class, I felt like I was going to (expletive verb) frickin scream. I asked the (adj) glorious class, if anybody was new to Pilates and they had all been taking class for (number) one year. After I found out how long the (adj) shiny class had done (adj) effervescent Pilates, I had to throw my plan out the (adj) mischevious door! Their Hundred looked like (noun) champagne gone wild, and their Teaser was (adj ending in ing) breathtaking.

(exclamation!) Merde! Someone (verb) glided which made the class go wild. (body part plural) Eyes were (verb ending in ing) cavorting like (animal) giraffes everywhere. And I only had (number) 10 seconds to get the class to Seal. You could see the sweat through my (article of clothing) little spandex Pilates briefs. In the end, my (adj) miraculous class left feeling (adj ending in er) better, and I feel (positive emotion) glee to be a Pilates instructor. Sign up now for my (exclamation!) ta-da! class
