Good Morning CPNYC Family! 

It’s me, Dubie (Doo-bee), aka Laura Constantiner, (really cool) teacher and faculty member at the studio. Many of you are well aware that I have my first bun in the oven (baby boy!), due May 28th. Along with my husband, I will have another Gemini on my hands, or should I say “in” my hands? Anyway, as of now, I am 24 weeks along…more than halfway there, but who’s counting? Me! Duh.


Needless to say, I am thrilled! I have always wanted to be a MILF, I just wasn’t in any rush  – I have two gorgeous nieces and one handsome nephew that have satisfied my baby fix for nearly a decade. I knew Baby C would come when he was meant to, and now is the time!


In case you haven’t already noticed, I’ll be occasionally taking over the CPNYC blog and Instagram, sharing some of my noteworthy prenatal experiences with you. I vow to not bullshit you. While being pregnant is an incredible, magical experience, it’s not all rainbows and sunshine – if somebody every tries to tell you that, they’re phonies! Weird shit happens to your body every day, you’re super emotional, and to top it off, people will do or say things that make you want to punch them in the face.

I’ll talk the fun and not-so-fun. My objective is to strike a healthy balance of experience-sharing. 

On that note, we’ll start with some healthy food-talk.

Now that I am well into my second trimester, I have a healthy appetite. 

Side Note: I spent most of my first trimester bedridden, barfing my brains out. NOT fun.

And when I say “healthy,” I mean it literally – as in I crave kale salads, fresh fruits (citrus!), acai bowls, and lean protein. I also mean it figuratively – as in more and more I find myself hungrier and hungrier. Baby boy is a heffer! Because of this, I’ve found ways to keep baby satisfied and  Mama healthy. 

I invented this smoothie when my husband had a cold a few weeks ago. It was a happy accident, in that I used random ingredients I already had in the apartment. It turned out to be the most bomb smoothie ever. It’s also worth mentioning that it cured my husbands cold – he immediately felt better after drinking it. I am a miracle worker! 

Since recipes need titles, I’ll call this baby…

“Laura’s Superfood Smoothie”


Not at all creative, but the recipe speaks for itself. In addition to being delicious and refreshing, it has other things going for it, like being filled with fiber, antioxidants, polyphenols, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin C.

Without further ado, the recipe:

1/2 Frozen (or fresh) Banana

1/2 Cup frozen blueberries

Handful of spinach

1 T freeze-dried Acai powder

1 T Maca powder

Juice of 1/2 a Grapefruit

1 Cup Coconut water + Filtered water (if too thick)

1/4 Cup Raw Almonds
